The Mandelbrot Set
1) On the complex plane we pick a starting number
near the origin ![]()
2) We compute ![]()
3) We continue on calculating ![]()
One of two things will eventually happen.
Either
will get very large and move away from the origin
or
will remain stable
near the origin.
The stable numbers are the Mandelbrot set and we usually color them black
We color the other points based on how quickly the absolute value of some limit, usually 2.
